Past Events – Smoke on the Waters

Smoke on the Waters
June 20th – 22nd 1997, Welsh Borders

The back of the mind, experienced physically towards the back of the head, works differently to the front of the mind. It prefers to wander freely rather than follow orderly sequences of thought, and to turn things over in its own time rather than deliver on demand. Regarded with suspicion in modern societies, which generally favour logic, the back of the mind can be a source of insight and inspiration.

Certain conditions favour this type of thinking. Thoughts surface, usually in a somewhat random fashion, in the twilight zone between sleeping and waking; gazing into a fire, watching wind sweep through grasses, listening to water running in a stream, calm the mind and create space for reflection; and simple practical activities require enough attention to occupy the front of the mind while leaving the back of the mind free.

Smoke on the Waters will create these conditions in order to understand, and maybe redefine, the faculties associated with ‘female intuition’.
