9L @30 Yurt Weekend – “Generations”
June 10th-12th 2011

What does our female ancestry mean to us? How do you connect to the power of that line? And how can we balance the pull of the past with the needs of the future?

This weekend is for a group of nine women who will take up residence in three yurts at the Strawberry Skys yurt camp near Welshpool, on the Welsh border. The time will be spent in simple living conditions, in beautiful natural surroundings. We’ll investigate the theme of female lineage through a variety of approaches: practical, contemplative and imaginative exercises, and discussion. The different qualities of darkness and light will also play a part: for instance firelight, moonlight, lamplight and sunlight may influence us, along with twilight and the darker hours of the night.

The whole campsite is reserved for our exclusive use. Yurts are comfortable and warm, with ‘real’ beds. You will need to bring bedding, and towels and linen as needed. (Further details will be given later.) The three yurts are in the same field, and each has a firepit outside. There is a kitchen and verandah style eating area on site, plus a clean and modern shower and compost toilet. See http://www.strawberryskys.co.uk/

This weekend will not be taxing physically, but participants are asked to be present the whole time, and to take part in all sessions. Also, we will all lend a hand with food preparation and clearing up. There will be some free time on Saturday afternoon, to relax, walk or explore nearby Llanfair Caerinnion.

Places are open to all those who have taken part in a Nine Ladies or related group at any time. The price of £145 covers the basic costs of campsite hire, meals and admin expenses; please note that all Nine Ladies groups and courses are run on a non-profit basis.
